Style by Naz participated in this year’s Emmy’s gifting suite and it was a great success. Celebrities started arriving right on time at 11:00 AM and the flow did not stop till 5:00 PM. We met many great talents and the Emmy nominees. They all stopped by our table and left with a bag containing a Style by Naz gift certificate good for two hours of styling or Image Consulting services and a great piece of jewelry from Mishka Piaf which was very popular among all celebrities.

Prints Charming, A how to style advice by Nazy Meknat, Newport Beach magazine, By Cynthia Rupe, January 2011 Issue

Make a bold statement with prints and patterns. With styles spanning from conservative to retro to boho, this year’s resort style gives the green light to step out of your comfort zone and mix and match.
Louis Vuitton’s printed sleeves dress in feminine floral and stripes is a refined example of a mixed print that reflects the spirit and grace of the 1950s. In contrast, the Tory Burch silk “Arjeta” Dress offers bold, bohemian flair, shown complete with lace-up sandals and a gorgeous purple wrap-belt.
Newport Beach wardrobe and fashion stylist Nazy Meknat the owner of Style by Naz offers tips for finding flattering patterns and mixing prints.

Suit Your Shape. “When wearing prints, always consider the scale of the print compared to the scale of your body,” Nazy says. “If you are petite, larger prints will be overwhelming for your frame. The opposite goes for women who are taller or have bigger structure.”

Mix It Up. “There is nothing wrong with mixing prints, as long as the colors are complementary to each other. When mixing prints, choose one dominate print and one smaller, more subtle print. With these rules in mind you can mix and match stripes, plaid, polka dots and even floral prints.”

Spring and Summer 2011 Trend watch

image027.jpg

With the New Year done and dusted, it's time to look ahead to see what fashionistas are likely to be wearing this year. So here is a look at a few of spring and summer 2011 fashion to get you started on the right track for creating a stylish wardrobe.

70S GLAMOUR:

We will see two major elements of the 70’s this season, first, bohemian and second sophisticated glamour. Think long dresses and high-waist pants.

LACE:

True, lace is not new but it has come back. Don’t expect to see all over lace, this time
it’s just a small, unique take of it. More classic is the key to this trend.

BELLBOTTOMS:

Skinny pants have been around for so long that it no longer makes a statement. So it is time to change. Now, with the comeback of all things 70’s it only makes sense to bring back the bellbottoms. Good news for tall ladies since they can pull this one off way better than the rest of us.

STRIPES:

This is one of my favorite trends. Although not everyone likes to wear stripes and truthfully it is not suggested for everyone, it can add a little more interest to a wardrobe. We have seen stripes almost every Spring/Summer season but this year we will see more of a nautical stripe than any other.

JUMPSUITS/ROMPERS:

This trend is in today, out tomorrow. For this season, it is back in. A romper is a good substitute for a dress on a hot summer day, with a little more attitude and
a little more edge than a dress.

Spring/Summer 2010 Trend watch

Floral

A few days ago spring season officially started which means it’s that time again to look at some of the most popular trends for this season and perhaps refresh our wardrobes.
Let’s start with the colors. The “it” color of the season is Yellow. From bight and sunny to more greenish and muted, yellow is everywhere. You can find it in separate pieces as well as dresses. Just make sure you will look for the right shade of yellow that compliments your skin tone. If wearing yellow is not for you, don’t sweat it, you can still show you know what’s in by adding an accessory to your outfit, like a yellow or mustard color handbag.
Pink and blue were also seen on the runways for this season. Even animal prints got a little brighter. Just remember, don’t mix these bright colors with black or you will look like you never left the 80’s. Instead wear them with denim, white, light grey or other bright colors. Don’t pack up your nudes from last year either. They are still trendy and very stylish this season.

The biggest trend for spring and summer 2010 is patterns and prints, trust me you won’t be able to get away from this trend, its everywhere.

Animal Print never went anywhere but this season more than before you can feel stylish wearing them just be careful, don’t go wild with it. There is a very fine line between chic and cheap when it comes to wearing animal prints. A dash or an accent of it can be very stylish but be aware and avoid overkill it can actually age you.

Fall 2009 Fashion and trend watch

biker.jpg

The weather is still warm out but believe it or not fall is just around the corner. Soon we will be stepping out of tees, shorts and flip flops in to sweaters, jackets and boots. Many trends come out each season but if there is only one thing you need to know when shopping this fall, that would be "TOUGH CHIC". You would have no shortage of leather biker jackets, motorcycle pants, leather boots, or anything else with a leather trim for both men and women. Studs are going to be on almost everything, from jackets to dresses to shoes and cuffs and even your dog collar. I guess 80's are back but then again, did it ever go away?
So lets see what else is hot this season...

Leather
This one is the hottest trend this fall for both men and women. Biker leather jackets are a must have, but if you find an embellished one specially with studs, that's even better. Pair it with jeans, black pants, over a girly dress or with leggings and boots for the ladies....

Strong shoulders
This trend started in spring and is working its way up to fall and winter. Another 80's trend showing up everywhere from the runways of Milan to the streets of Los Angeles and New York. This trend is specially beneficial for people with a triangle shape to add some width to the upper half of the body and broaden the shoulders to balance the hips and the bottom half. You can find it in Jackets for both men and women, or dresses for women.

Make up on the Beach

Beach Make up

Temperature rising, sun is shining and bikinis are out of closet. It’s that time of the year again to pack your beach bags and head to that weekend pool party or to the beach.
But before you head out remember a few make up rules for the beach.

1- The way you apply make up to go to the beach should not be the same way you put on make up for a night out in town. A face full of make up doesn’t look right at the beach or by the pool. Any product you put on should be light and sheer, you want to look like a sunnier version of yourself.

2-First and foremost, protect your skin. 20 minutes before putting any kind of make up on be sure to apply a generous amount of sunscreen. If you need to reapply, try a powder sun block such as colore science or Shiseido.

3-In hot, humid weather, anything that is creamy or greasy- like foundation or concealer- is going to smudge. But if you can’t go without any coverage, try mixing a bit of your foundation in to your sunscreen and apply it that way. However, powder-based products, like a light loose powder to combat the shine is much better.
If you need to cover a scar or blemish, try a stiff concealer or a little bit of pressed powder.

4-Any make up you wear should enhance your skin’s natural color. So if you are going to use a bronzer, chose a shade that looks like a natural tan for you. Also, you want to pick a bronzer without any shimmer. It won’t look right in the bright sun light.

Cotton suit

Summer is here and it's time for you to store your wool suits and opt for a lighter one that's made out of cotton, linen or other natural fibers.
High-end designers like Giorgio Armani, Paul Smith, Etro, DKNY and Calvin Klein have added cotton suits to their collections but I have seen other retailers like H&M offering a more affordable version.

The ease of a cotton suit
Cotton suits are a great alternative to summer weight wools. They are easily incorporated into a wardrobe. They can be worn with a tee as well as a shirt and tie. A pair of fabulous dress shoes or fashion sneakers, what ever your style, will finish off this cool summer wardrobe essential. keep in mind that the cotton suits offered now are more sophisticated making them better suited for the office or an evening out as opposed to the country club look found in years past.
There are so many ways you can wear a cotton/summer suit. From preppy to edgy, it’s all about personal style and accessories.
Yes even a dark cotton suit can be worn in the summer, specially in the evening, but it has to be light weight. for example a steel blue cotton suit can go from office to an evening out.
