Spring/Summer 2010 Trend watch

Floral

A few days ago spring season officially started which means it’s that time again to look at some of the most popular trends for this season and perhaps refresh our wardrobes.
Let’s start with the colors. The “it” color of the season is Yellow. From bight and sunny to more greenish and muted, yellow is everywhere. You can find it in separate pieces as well as dresses. Just make sure you will look for the right shade of yellow that compliments your skin tone. If wearing yellow is not for you, don’t sweat it, you can still show you know what’s in by adding an accessory to your outfit, like a yellow or mustard color handbag.
Pink and blue were also seen on the runways for this season. Even animal prints got a little brighter. Just remember, don’t mix these bright colors with black or you will look like you never left the 80’s. Instead wear them with denim, white, light grey or other bright colors. Don’t pack up your nudes from last year either. They are still trendy and very stylish this season.

The biggest trend for spring and summer 2010 is patterns and prints, trust me you won’t be able to get away from this trend, its everywhere.

Animal Print never went anywhere but this season more than before you can feel stylish wearing them just be careful, don’t go wild with it. There is a very fine line between chic and cheap when it comes to wearing animal prints. A dash or an accent of it can be very stylish but be aware and avoid overkill it can actually age you.

Floral Patterns are also a big trend this season, from dresses to tops and even pants. I do not suggest floral pants unless you like that funky style and love to stand out that way. But feminine dresses and blouses are a great way to soften your look and add some interest to your wardrobe. A perfect floral silk blouse can dress up your blue jeans. Nothing says spring like a floral dress. However make sure to fit florals to your figure.

Larger prints can create the impression of a larger figure. Tall women can get away with bigger prints but a flower larger than a hand span can make a full figure lady look even bigger. A petite woman can be lost in big patters so go with a smaller pattern. Remember its all about proportion.

Tribal Print is another bold trend for the spring and summer. It could be tricky to pull it off and it definitely is not for everyone but if you do decide to give this trend a try remember to go very easy on accessories. Although you could do the global trend with a chunky piece of tribal jewelry or a pair of flats instead of clothing.

Another option to consider with this trend is swimwear. This look is ideal for the rocking world traveler or someone who aspires to be one. A little number that’s so incredibly unique, it will make heads turn. So, go ahead and make a statement this season.

If you are not comfortable wearing prints in anyway but still would like to look like you know what’s hot this season, try a zebra clutch or a pair of snake skin heels which is extremely sexy.

Hot pants, short shorts and minis are in. If ever there was a time to hit the gym, and work towards killer legs, its now. Hemlines have gotten shorter than short. Hot pants, boy shorts, mini skirts and short dresses ruled the runways everywhere. Keep in mind, to avoid looking like Julia Roberts in Pretty woman keep the upper part of your body covered when wearing short skirts or short shorts, it’s about having a balance, if you are showing a lot of legs don’t wear a low cut shirt and show cleavage, you don’t want to give the wrong impression. Instead of a low cut tank top stick with a casual V-neck or screw neck T-shirt for a casual look or a long sleeve fitted button down and heels for a night out. Same thing for skirts and dresses, keep the top covered if the hemline is short. there is nothing sexier than a long sleeve short dress. Feel free to show some cleavage and bare your arms and shoulders if you’re wearing pants or the hemline doesn't go any higher then above the knee. That way you will look sexy and sophisticated.

The weather is warming up so pack all your black and grey bulky sweaters, jackets and scarves and make room for some floral, tribal and bright colors.

Have happy and stylish spring.
