Spring and Summer 2011 Trend watch

With the New Year done and dusted, it's time to look ahead to see what fashionistas are likely to be wearing this year. So here is a look at a few of spring and summer 2011 fashion to get you started on the right track for creating a stylish wardrobe.

70S GLAMOUR:

We will see two major elements of the 70’s this season, first, bohemian and second sophisticated glamour. Think long dresses and high-waist pants.

LACE:

True, lace is not new but it has come back. Don’t expect to see all over lace, this time
it’s just a small, unique take of it. More classic is the key to this trend.

BELLBOTTOMS:

Skinny pants have been around for so long that it no longer makes a statement. So it is time to change. Now, with the comeback of all things 70’s it only makes sense to bring back the bellbottoms. Good news for tall ladies since they can pull this one off way better than the rest of us.

STRIPES:

This is one of my favorite trends. Although not everyone likes to wear stripes and truthfully it is not suggested for everyone, it can add a little more interest to a wardrobe. We have seen stripes almost every Spring/Summer season but this year we will see more of a nautical stripe than any other.

JUMPSUITS/ROMPERS:

This trend is in today, out tomorrow. For this season, it is back in. A romper is a good substitute for a dress on a hot summer day, with a little more attitude and
a little more edge than a dress.

CROP TOPS:

This one is not suggested for woman over 25 years of age. This is also very much of a mid- summer trend, party atmosphere that we last saw in 2009.

60S LADY LIKE:

The style of 1950s and 1960s make a return with shapes that accentuate curves and encourages femininity. Look for full skirts and hip-hugging dresses in fresh colors and prints.

MEN'S FASHION AND TRENDS FOR THE SEASON

SUITS:

They never go out of fashion but they do evolve over the time. For the contemporary, modern man there are just a few points to remember when choosing a suit.

1- Broad shoulder
2- Slim waist
3- Slim trouser

With those three points in mind, let’s take a look at the new style of suits for the season.

SINGLE BREASTED:

Again, they are never out of fashion but despite being the default style, they're also the dominant, on-trend suit cut for 2011 and 2012. This is in contrast to the double breasted suit that was in style during 2009 and 2010.

MEN'S FLARED JEANS:

Men’s skinny jeans are not out of fashion but they have had their days. So as far as men’s trend goes for the season, they have been replaced by flared jeans. Now knowing jeans don’t really go in or out of style too dramatically choosing between skinny, flared or straight cut is entirely up to you depending on your personal style, sense of fashion and the image you like to portray.

MOTORCYCLE STYLE:

This trend is in for both men and women. Many design houses have take on this trend, boots, pants, accessories, etc… but the main staple piece remains the motorcycle jacket.

HIGH-TOP SHOES:

This season more than ever they are making a statement. All major designers are coming out with a version of the high-top sneakers. You can wear them with shorts, suits, jeans and khakis. This shoe has the classic look of old school but at the same time looks modern, comfortable and durable.
